A Day For Michalla

Yesterday was a day to remember Michalla. It was her birthday. She would have been 20.

First thing in the morning, Lilly put on the leggings Michalla gave her and we painted nails. Michalla was known for nail painting, so we thought it was the perfect way to start our day.

Later in the day we got a message from Michalla's mom, inviting us over for a party to celebrate! Lilly was SO EXCITED! We had never been to Michalla's house. Lilly got a chance to get to know Michalla's siblings more. She also thought it was very special that she got to go into Michalla's room...

Getting the cake ready. I'm glad it was a happy day for everyone!

Speaking of happy, look at this girl! She has grown up so much in the past few months. I love her to pieces!

The kiddos all helped blow out the candles. Happy Birthday Michalla!

Jay's cousin Lori recently gave Lilly two special angel porcelain dolls. One for Lilly and one for Michalla's family. We thought it was the perfect time for Lilly to give the angel doll as a gift to them. The special thing about that is Michalla used to get a porcelain doll every year for her birthday. It worked out perfectly and they loved it! Thanks Lori!

After we ate and played games, we went over to the cemetery. We brought some illuminated solar lilies to leave at the cemetery. Lilly has always wanted to plant lilies next to Michalla - this is the next best thing.

We all got a balloon to write on, remembering Michalla. Lilly wrote, "I love that you always make me happy. Love, Lilly"

And then we all let them go at the same time.

It was beautiful... Until some got stuck in the tree. Logan and Clint climbed the tree and eventually all balloons we released up into the sky.

Lilly and Michalla's little sister Faith became fast friends. I'm so happy they connected so easily. Lilly can't wait to go back and play.

Just before dark, Logan and Clint both sang and played a song on the guitar. It was a great way to end the night. I'm so glad we were able to spend the day celebrating Michalla with her family. We are planning on doing it again the next year... And the next... And the next... Happy Birthday Michalla! We Love You!
